This issue stemmed from the desire to push boundaries, exploring various liminal forms of language and communication. Delved into underground, constructed, non-verbal, coded languages, ideologies, slang, shouts, insults, image-languages, secret writings, censored writings, etc. The contributions focus on languages born out of oppression or the necessity for a unique form of expression, invented languages for physical and/or emotional protection, languages tied to specific communities, or languages that allow emancipation from reasoned and conventional meaning. Photographs by Léa Guintrand
